Meet the Team Behind the Mission

Amber founded LOAR PLLC to help injured Texans get justice, and the firm now also takes on selected matters beyond Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. in Psychology and from the University of Texas School of Law with honors, where she was inducted into the Order of the Coif (top 10% of the class).

Amber began her career in 2006 at Baker Botts, an international firm, defending companies in complex environmental litigation. In 2013 she switched sides, joining Erskine & Blackburn, an Austin trial firm, where she represented injured people as a partner until founding LOAR in 2021. She has helped hundreds of clients who have been seriously injured, including victims of trucking and auto crashes.

In her community, Amber is known as a dedicated advocate. She and her husband launched and serve on the board of SOAR Texas (Scholarship Opportunities and Relationships), which provides $200,000 in annual scholarships, funded primarily by LOAR PLLC, beginning with the 2026 academic year: $100,000 for college and $100,000 for skilled trades. Together with LOAR Growth Grants, LOAR is working toward an annual goal of $300,000 in scholarships and grants. SOAR supports young women who are the first in their families to pursue higher education or who have overcome significant challenges, and pairs scholarships with professional development and mentoring.

Michael C. Roberts serves as Partner – Expansion & Complex Litigation at LOAR PLLC, where he supports the firm’s continued growth across Texas and beyond. Michael brings broad litigation experience to the firm, having represented clients ranging from individuals to large corporate entities. Before joining LOAR in 2026, he spent more than 11 years at Jackson Walker LLP, where he became a partner in 2022 and handled complex construction, insurance and commercial disputes, building a strong background in evaluating risk, developing litigation strategy and guiding clients through high-stakes legal challenges.

Michael’s experience reflects the trial strength LOAR continues to build as the firm expands its work in catastrophic injury cases and other complex litigation matters. Roberts’ trial experience includes first chairing a jury trial to a successful verdict in federal court, as well as multiple trials in state and federal courts and several arbitrations. One of his proudest accomplishments is representing a severely injured woman and her husband through trial against a major international company which resulted in a mid-trial multi-million-dollar settlement.

Michael earned his J.D. cum laude from Baylor University School of Law and his undergraduate degree summa cum laude from Abilene Christian University. He was selected to Texas Super Lawyers in 2025 and 2026 and to Texas Rising Stars from 2018 through 2022. He served as Co-Chair of the Austin Bar/AYLA Leadership Academy and currently serves on the board of Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas.

Jean focuses her practice on personal injury and condemnation matters. After growing up in Austin, she attended Texas A&M University and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Spanish. She then attended St. Mary’s University School of Law, where she graduated second in her class, served on the St. Mary’s Law Journal and earned recognition for her advocacy as a member of winning mock trial, moot court and negotiation teams. She was also voted Best Supporter of Advocacy by the St. Mary’s Board of Advocates.

After graduation, Jean spent three years at Jackson Walker LLP, representing condemning authorities and handling complex commercial litigation, before joining LOAR in 2021 to put her legal skills to work helping people injured by others.

When she is not advocating for her clients, Jean enjoys yoga, travel, and spending time with her family and her cat, Cooper.

Sandy has practiced health law for more than 20 years. She served as Senior Director of Legal Services for the Seton Healthcare Family (now part of Ascension), has worked on both sides of the medical malpractice docket and, through her firm BayneLaw, regularly represents patients against health insurance companies that deny reimbursement for medical bills.

Sandy holds a bachelor’s degree from Bryn Mawr College, with a double major in Spanish and Sociology, a J.D. from the University of Houston and an LL.M. in Health Law. In law school she was named to the Order of the Barristers, an honor for students who demonstrate excellence in trial and oral advocacy.

Sandy serves on the boards of the Austin Bar Foundation and HeartGift, which provides free life-saving cardiac surgeries to children born with congenital heart defects, and is a past President of the Austin Young Lawyers Association. In her free time, Sandy enjoys playing tennis with her husband and three kids. She is fluent in Spanish and conversant in Farsi.

Jaclyn Wilson is an experienced personal injury attorney with a strong background in the healthcare industry. Born and raised in Southeast Texas, Jaclyn’s passion for advocacy was ignited after the tragic loss of her father due to hospital negligence. That life-changing experience inspired her to dedicate her career to helping families and individuals hold negligent parties accountable.

Jaclyn earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Political Science from The University of Texas at Austin. She also completed a Health Information Technology and Health Information Exchange Specialist Certification through The University of Texas at Austin, which she applied during more than a decade working in healthcare IT for a large hospital system and Accountable Care Network. This foundation gave her a deep understanding of medical systems, patient care, and documentation—knowledge she now uses to strengthen her clients’ injury cases and to fight for the justice they deserve.

After earning her Juris Doctor degree from UNT Dallas College of Law, Jaclyn began her legal career focusing exclusively on personal injury law. She has extensive experience representing individuals injured in motor vehicle accidents, workplace incidents, and premises liability cases, as well as families pursuing wrongful death claims. Known for her compassion, attention to detail, and meticulous representation, Jaclyn is deeply connected to her clients’ journeys and is committed to securing fair outcomes.

She is licensed by the State Bar of Texas and is an active member of the Dallas Bar Association, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, JL Turner Legal Association, and Dallas Association of Young Lawyers.

Outside of her legal practice, Jaclyn enjoys traveling, chasing after her young son, caring for her chihuahua, and exploring her passion for personal finance. She believes her unique blend of healthcare experience, legal skill, and personal dedication allows her to advocate with both empathy and strength.

Angela has represented injured people in plaintiff’s personal injury cases for more than 20 years; earlier in her career she also handled criminal defense and family law matters. She is passionate about communicating clearly with clients about their cases and giving each client personal attention, while bringing integrity to the legal system.

Angela practices from Vancouver, Washington, where she founded Engstrom Injury Law, and keeps a regular presence in Arizona, where she has deep roots and her family continues to live.

She holds a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology, magna cum laude, from the University of Arizona, which she attended on a full academic scholarship, and a J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland. She is a member of the Washington State Bar, the Oregon State Bar, the State Bar of Arizona and the Washington State Association for Justice.

Kerri Ball is a senior paralegal who is passionate about helping clients get justice. She graduated from American University in Washington, D.C., and began her career on the West Coast in corporate roles, including as a corporate paralegal and in investor relations.

After moving to Texas, Kerri found her calling in helping injured people, first as a paralegal at Erskine & Blackburn, an Austin trial firm, and at LOAR since 2021. She has assisted in the preparation of complex wrongful death cases and many serious injury cases.

Kerri also serves her community through a number of activities and non-profits, including the National Charity League.

Rhonda Bauer graduated with a B.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of Illinois at Chicago before relocating to Texas and beginning her career in the legal field. She spent about ten years as a litigation paralegal at large defense firms, including MehaffyWeber, Shook, Hardy & Bacon and Norton Rose Fulbright, working on mass tort and product liability matters, before moving to personal injury and joining LOAR in 2022.

She has three daughters and loves traveling and spending time outdoors in her free time.

Becky is LOAR’s Technology Manager and a paralegal with more than six years of personal injury and litigation experience, driven by a passion for justice and helping others. She worked as a pre-litigation and litigation paralegal at Daniel Stark, PC and as a paralegal at Messer Fort, PLLC before joining LOAR in 2024. As Technology Manager since 2025, she manages the firm’s core technology systems and helps develop the procedures that keep LOAR running smoothly.

Becky earned her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. Originally from Minnesota, she moved around the Midwest before settling in Austin in 2017. Her family includes her husband, her daughter, her dog (Yoshi, an English Pointer) and a bearded dragon (Boss). Outside of work, she enjoys tending to her many plants, crafting and exploring Texas with her family.

Hannia is a Paralegal with a passion for helping those who are injured in getting justice. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Psychology, minoring in Sociology and Law, Justice & Society. Fluent in Spanish, she is able to connect directly with clients and provide clear, compassionate support throughout their cases. Originally from Marshall, a small town in East Texas, she brings a genuine, community-minded approach to her work and gives back through her work with Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas. Outside the office, Hannia can be found reading, practicing yoga, traveling, and seeking out new foods to try.

Mimi served for two decades as a Manager for Business Project Program Management within a $6 billion business. She was responsible for leading all aspects of a project and/or program management – planning, coordination, development, implementation (including the financial implications), while prioritizing work, resources and time.

Mimi brings her talents for team management and organization to help LOAR run seamlessly. She also works with the SOAR Board with administration and scholarship fund distribution.

Hyon-hee is a natural coordinator who brings order to complexity and combines attention to detail with the communication skills to keep people, deadlines, and details aligned. Her career spans teaching abroad, retail leadership, corporate human resources, training, marketing and renewals sales, and most recently, years of hands-on community organizing. She treats every role with curiosity, humility, and a genuine desire to support the people around her.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (Plan II/Asian Studies), Hyon-hee continues to enjoy learning about the world, history, and current events, volunteers as a Gallery Teacher at the Blanton Museum of Art, and finds time to pursue quilting and photography.

Courtney Laing’s professional background is built on high-level administrative management, client relations, and dedicated community leadership. She previously served as an Executive Assistant to a senior sales executive and has spent over two decades as an educator and literacy specialist. Moving into the legal sector, Courtney strives to bring a blend of positivity and organization to the workplace, ensuring that both the team and clients experience a seamless, supportive environment from initial intake through their entire journey with LOAR.

Deeply committed to service, Courtney serves as a literacy non-profit Board President, is Vice President New Members for the National Charity League, North Austin chapter, and is a member of the Four Points MS Cheer Booster. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon and a Master of Arts in Education and Creative Writing from Lewis & Clark College. After living most of her life on the west coast, she and her husband, Andrew, moved their family to Austin 3 years ago. Outside of the office, you can find her on the tennis courts, or keeping up with her teen daughters.

Julie brings a wide range of experience and a proven track record in case management, client communication, and records. Julie excels in supporting attorneys and maintaining efficient office operations. Her attention to detail and strong organizational skills make her an invaluable asset to the firm. Julie’s expertise also includes managing case files, ensuring confidentiality, and supporting attorneys in delivering seamless legal services.

Landry Pinto has spent four summers with LOAR as a Legal Intern, bringing curiosity, reliability and a strong work ethic to every task she takes on. A student at the University of Arkansas, Landry has become a valued part of the LOAR team.
