SOAR Scholar Mentors

Our Mentorship program enables SOAR Scholars to connect with professionals working in fields of interest who can provide them with valuable advice, guidance, and support to ensure their success as they enter into technical careers after graduation. We pair scholars with top-level community leaders as mentors. Mentors represent a wide range of careers: doctors, lawyers, judges, entrepreneurs, government leaders, journalists, artists, business executives and community service professionals. Mentees are exposed to professionals they may not have a chance to meet outside of the program.

The program is informal, and SOAR Scholar initiated, where Scholars know that any of the mentors listed are available to answer questions by email, have phone or video calls or meet in person. Mentors will also offer ‘office hours’ throughout the year for SOAR Scholars to come ask questions or just get to know the mentors. Each relationship can be tailored to their specific objectives. SOAR Scholars and mentors are also invited to events, such as Summer Celebration and tailgates, so they have opportunities to get to know each other outside of the mentoring programing.
